University of Maryland A. J. Clark School of Engineering
Award-Winning Site for Renowned School of Engineering
TBG & University of Maryland A. J. Clark School of Engineering
The A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland wanted a fresh new face for their school, so they opted to work with TBG (The Berndt Group). The Engineering School's site needed to meet a variety of criteria, including a dynamic homepage that grabbed a user's attention while offering clear usability and highlighting a diverse student body as well as what the School has to offer.
The Engineering School also wanted the ability to feature changing content on the homepage, which we accomplished through the 'Clark Spotlight' and 'News' sections—two tracks that allowed for changing content. Because the School of Engineering needed to reach a variety of audiences, including current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, business and government constituents, and the media, the primary navigation was segmented by audience. Call-outs on the subpages featured students that helped give a face to the Engineering School. The overall brand of the School needed to be distinctive and unique, but at the same time fit into the larger University of Maryland brand aesthetic.
The site accomplished the client's goals for the site:
- dynamic and eye catching design;
- clear organization of content;
- high usability for all audiences; and
- a website that served as both a marketing piece and an information tool.
TBG won a Horizon Interactive Design Award for this site.
