TBG Celebrates Gold ADDY Award Win
Baker Artist Portfolio Receives Accolades from the American Advertising Federation of Baltimore
TBG (The Berndt Group), www.berndtgroup.net, a prominent and growing national digital agency located in Baltimore, MD, won a Gold ADDY Award for its work on the Baker Artist Portfolios website, bakerartist.org, a database featuring artwork by contemporary Baltimore-area artists.
Organized by the American Advertising Federation of Baltimore (AAFB), the ADDY Awards highlight the best creative marketing work being produced in Baltimore. With a goal of recognizing and rewarding extraordinary creativity in the art of advertising across all mediums, the American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. For the 2017 competition, the AAFB received 371 entries, and the organization handed out 98 awards in gold and silver categories. TBG was recognized alongside top Baltimore tech agencies.
Managed by the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, the Baker Artist Awards recognizes outstanding artists in six disciplines—Literary Arts, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Interdisciplinary Arts, Music and Film/Video—from Baltimore, Maryland. "The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) advocates for, supports, and strengthens the capacity of cultural organizations and artists in the region. Our Baker Artist Portfolio site is a vital resource, each year highlighting the work of around 1,000 area artists across all disciplines,” says Jeannie Howe, Executive Director of the GBCA. “It is viewed by thousands of individuals around the world including curators, collectors, other artists, and creative professionals in the nonprofit and commercial sectors. From this site and through an adjudication process, GBCA awards $90,000 annually for artistic excellence.”
With a goal to feature the artists’ work year round, the new and improved website for the Baker Artist Portfolios sought to shift to a more future-looking focus, in which the website and the organization’s purpose goes beyond its annual awards. The new site primarily serves as a portfolio site—a way to showcase the breadth and depth of artistic talent in the Baltimore area. To facilitate and improve content and artist portfolio management, the organization also desired to replatform onto a new CMS that provides better standards and stronger back-end usability. The new website was developed on Drupal CMS by TBG’s partner Zivtech, a Drupal Web development firm based in Philadelphia.
"We're extremely happy for the recognition that Baker Artists has received,” says Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg, Cofounder & CEO, Zivtech. “At Zivtech, we love to work with great mission-driven organizations, and it was an honor to get to work with the teams at GBCA and TBG to build an awesome site for a great cause."
This project is the first digital experience that TBG has completed for bakerartist.org. The ADDY Award is the first award for the new Baker Artist Portfolios site.
“We are so honored to have won a gold award for the Baker Artist Portfolios site,” said CEO John Berndt. “Together, TBG and Zivtech make a stellar team, and the award demonstrates the excellence that this collaboration produced. Our team is thrilled to have designed such a beautiful site that is benefits artists in our community by showcasing their artwork.”
“The team at TBG approached the redesign of the new Baker Artist Portfolios website with total commitment to both presentation of artists work and enhanced usability,” says Jeannie Howe, Executive Director, GBCA. “It is a beautiful, contemporary framework. So much so, that artists often use their portfolio entries as their primary websites. TBG’s CEO John Berndt is a cultural force in Baltimore. He has been involved with GBCA since its inception over 15 years ago. As a former board member, an accomplished artist, founder of High Zero, and passionate supporter of the arts, there was no one better to oversee this project. GBCA and the Founders of the creator of the Baker Artist Portfolio, the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, are grateful for the dedication of the TBG team in bringing the Baker Artist Portfolios to this extraordinary next level."
The ADDY Award win goes hand-in-hand with the numerous awards and recognitions TBG has received throughout the years, including continued recognition from the Baltimore Business Journal in its Top Web Agencies Book of Lists. In addition, TBG has won numerous awards for its work, including Sitecore Site of the Year, previous ADDY® awards, and Webby honors (the “Oscars” of the Web).
