Penn Cancer & Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Receive Recognition

The annual international Horizon Awards recognize the achievements of interactive media producers in websites, videos, online advertising, print media and mobile applications. TBG’s work was chosen amongst thousands of entries from across the globe.

A global leader in research, patient care, and education, Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center is a renowned, one-of-a-kind facility in the U.S. It was formally established in 1973 by Penn Medicine’s preeminent cancer specialists with a mission to provide the best emerging cancer therapies. Over the past 40 years, the Cancer Center has grown to house more than 300 faculty over 26 divisions that have made a significant impact on our knowledge of cancer and its treatment. Penn Medicine has been named to the prestigious Honor Roll of the US News & World Report 2015-16 Best Hospitals, ranking among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation.

Penn Medicine sought to develop new digital properties across all of their centers. This complex project began with the development of Web strategy recommendations that resulted in a comprehensive strategic roadmap that detailed the best approach to executing a multi-year CMS replatforming and redesigns of many websites. The consultations enabled TBG to develop a new Web strategy, design, and user-driven, higher usability architecture for a state-of-the-art healthcare digital property that resonates for all users, especially patients and their families. A significant part of the project was TBG’s development of a custom Find A Doctor tool that spans Penn Medicine’s entire digital universe. The strong contemporary healthcare website recognizes search as an integral part of the experience and blurs the lines between browse and search behaviors. Because content is highly automated and topicalized, the same content can be displayed contextually in both kinds of experience—all with the goal of providing visitors with an extremely high value, streamlined experience.

The Abramson Cancer Center website is the first to launch of Penn Medicine’s updated online presence. TBG continues to work with Penn Medicine to make greater use of the Sitecore CMS. The Penn Cancer site was also recognized with an Omni Award and a Digital Health Award.

With a mission to support and promote multi-state arts programming, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation sought to redesign its website to improve user experience, update the overall look-and-feel, and align with the Foundation’s updated branding. The new responsive website was developed on WordPress CMS. TBG has worked with Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation on its digital presence for 15 years and designed the Foundation’s previous website as well as other microsites and worked with the Foundation to update its branding. TBG developed Web strategy recommendations based on creative analysis and best practices research, in addition to a series of user testing with artists and arts administrators who use the website to find information about opportunities for presenting their work, grant applications, and various resources for capacity building. Through this process, TBG developed a new Web strategy, design, and user-driven, higher usability architecture for the site that resonates for all users, especially artists and arts administrators.
