Staff Accountant


TBG (The Berndt Group) is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to provide accounting support and financial tasks for the company. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager, as well as with the CFO, COO and CEO to ensure the overall financial health and success of the company. This position directly reports to the COO and CFO, although day-to-day management of tasks is coordinated by the Accounting Manager and CFO.

This position also works closely with TBG project managers and clients as it relates to billing, project inquiries and all staff regarding payroll and benefits questions.

This position requires the utmost professionalism and discretion, given the sensitive and confidential nature of the information the position handles.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will apply accounting principles to prepare financial reports, compile financial statements, analyze financial data, and ensure financial compliance. The Staff Accountant will maintain and execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, budgeting, forecasting, and bank reconciliations.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepare accounting related entries to registers, journals and logs

  • Follow company’s established accounting processes

  • Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry

  • Support billing and collection related to tracking and maintain accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, bank deposits

  • Prepare, process and manage payroll including funding business expense reimbursements and credit card accounts management

  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts

  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions

  • Prepare documentation for external auditors and tax preparers

  • Assist in the preparation of accrual based financial statements

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly key performance indicators and results

  • Assist in the preparation of budget

  • Support the management of the employee benefit programs (health insurance, 401K, life, AD&D, etc.)

  • Support the management of risk for the Company (liability, workers compensation, etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required

  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting or related field

  • Proficient in Word and Excel

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports

  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Background check required for qualified candidates prior to hire
