Structured Design Process

A key aspect of our work is the use of what we call "Structured Design Processes" to improve the organization, efficiency and success of our projects.

The majority of The Berndt Group's work combines a range of considerations including strategy, design, implementation and infrastructure, and the role of the Structured Design Process is to correctly align decisions and contingent sign-off points so as to reduce the possibility of waste or confusion. Extremely popular with our clients, these structured processes keep projects on budget and timeline, while getting the maximum value from our creative and technical work.

Typically, a high-level view of our structured design process includes the following phases:

• A discovery phase, including scope review, stakeholder interviews, best practices research, and in some cases, market research.
• Development and discussion of user experience recommendations, including information architecture, design requirements, and general functional requirements for application behavior.
• Detailed plans for project design, including graphic design prototypes, content taxonomies, content object models, and detailed technical descriptions of business logic.
• Creation of working prototypes and proofs of concept.
• Content population and extensive testing.
