The Shelter Group, a long-time client of The Berndt Group, approached us in 2004 to create a comprehensive Web presence for their Brightview Senior Living brand. Previously, Brightview communities maintained their own web sites with individual "look and feels."
We took the Brightview brand and created a unified "look and feel" for the community sites that ties into a main Brightview corporate site. Brightview Senior Living offers Independent Living, Assisted Living and Alzheimer's Care in several states on the East coast, from Massachusetts to Florida, and our challenge was to design a site template that would focus on a clean, simple layout to offer high usability for seniors, but would also be easy to update and duplicate as communities were added to the Brightview portfolio.
The Brightview online brand is currently 16 plus communities strong, and Brightview Senior Living is still expanding. In 2006, we revisited the Brightview online brand to give it a fresh face and focus even more on senior usability issues such as text readability (with the implementation of the text size changer), senior-friendly colors and contrasts, and customer relations features such as "Email this Page", "Schedule Private Tours." A new section also features Testimonials which reinforce the brand credibility and recognition.
Another focus point for the redesign endeavor was Search Engine Optimization to provide the Brightview brand with improved visibility across the Web. Particular emphasis was put on keyword placement and relevance, as well as cross-linking and fresh, updated content on homepages and targeted sections of the sites.
We are currently embarking on the next chapter, redesigning the corporate and Brightview sites again to give them a fresh face.
