&description=Touch Wonder!

The Berndt Group undertook this large-scale, ambitious project with an accelerated timeline, that resulted in the successful development of a new, more intuitive information design and high-end creative design for the Maryland Science Center's web site. Key goals for the project included ease of use for visitors in finding the information they need like hours and how to buy tickets; driving attendance; making it easy to become a member online; and using the site as more of a marketing tool.

In designing the new site, we wanted to showcase MSC's top selling points: the amazing exhibits and shows; exploration and interactivity; education, entertainment and science; and the architecture/physicality of the actual building, which is memorable and evokes a strong sense of atmosphere. Through the site, we wanted to capture and simulate the interactive and dynamic experience of an actual visit to the Science Center.Noteworthy features of the site include the 'pull and drag' interactivity of the magnifying glass Flash piece on the homepage; the Homework Helper icons in the Exhibits section; high impact photography throughout the site; and the Trip Planner.

The Berndt Group earned a number of awards for this site, including an International Summit Creative Award, an ADDY from the Advertising Association of Baltimore, an 'Official Honoree' distinction from the Webby Awards, a Davey Award and a WebAward.

This site was live from 2005 - 2008; in 2008, the Science Center reassessed its goals and needs for the web site. The Berndt Group completed a second redesign project in early 2009, unveiling a new (and hopefully) award-winning site, like its predecessor.
