The Berndt Group to Sponsor AIGA New Technology Event on September 21, 2006: Digital Design & The New York Times

BALTIMORE, MD—The Berndt Group, www.berndtgroup.net, a Baltimore, MD-based full service interactive agency, will sponsor an AIGA New Technology Event on September 21, 2006 at Villa Julie College. The event, titled "Digital Design & The New York Times," will feature Khoi Vinh, Design Director @ NYTimes.com.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 21, 2006 in the Inscape Theatre at Villa Julie College with a reception from 6-7PM and the actual event from 7-8:30PM. Tickets are $10 for AIGA members and $20 for non members. Students are $15. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for the following prices: $20 for members; $30 for non members; $25 for students. Khoi Vinh, the keynote speaker for the event, leads the design group at NYTimes.com. He and his team are responsible for the visual integrity of the industry-leading news site, including design for new online features and content as The New York Times embraces the digital future. Join us as he discusses how the design group works at NYTimes.com, the state of Web and news design in 2006 and how he balances work and personal projects such as his popular blog, subtraction.com, where he writes extensively on design, technology and user experience.

About Khoi Vinh

A native Marylander, Khoi Vinh grew up in Montgomery County and attended Gaithersburg High School. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in communication design from Otis School of Art & Design in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to joining NYTimes.com, Khoi was a founding partner at the groundbreaking design studio Behavior LLC in New York City, where he led engagements for major clients such as The Onion, ResortQuest, Smithsonian, HBO, PEAK6 and many others. He has an extensive history in consultative design services for clients in a wide range of industries, as well as an early career in print design.

Khoi’s thoughtful advocacy of effective, forward-thinking design has led to wide industry recognition, including a seat on the board of directors at AIGA New York, the association’s largest chapter.
