The Berndt Group Continues Strong Tradition of Pro Bono Work in Baltimore Community

February 1, 2006

BALTIMORE, MD—The Berndt Group, www.berndtgroup.net, a Baltimore, MD- based full service interactive agency, announced the launch of two pro bono web site projects and a current project in development. The Berndt Group has launched Sofi’s Crepes, www.sofiscrepes.com, Contemporary Museum, www.contemporary.org, and is currently developing the new web site for Maryland Art Place (MAP), www.mdartplace.org.

Sofi’s Crepes is a small restaurant business located near Baltimore’s Charles Theater. Created in Flash, the site is inventive and lively capturing the fun and creative aspect of Sofi’s delicious crepes. The web site received a 2006 Summit Creative Award and a Horizon Interactive Design Award.

The Contemporary Museum, founded in 1990 is a long-standing Baltimore art organization located in Mt. Vernon that promotes art as an educational tool and a catalyst for progressive social change in Baltimore and the surrounding region. The new site provides an overall professional, unique, and integrated brand for the Museum. The web site received a 2006 Summit Creative Award.

Maryland Art Place, founded in 1981 has a mission to support the common needs of visual artists throughout the state, and to provide access to and information about artists working in Maryland. The new site, with a projected launch of Fall 2006, will update this 20+ year institution by giving it a relevant and contemporary look-and-feel and features that support MAP’s outreach and educational efforts.

The Berndt Group provides an unusually large amount of pro bono Web services to Baltimore and local organizations, typically completing 2-3 projects a year with a 50/50 ratio between cultural organizations and socially concerned non-profits. Previous pro bono projects include web sites for The Creative Alliance, The Charles Theater, School 33 Art Center, Maryland Scholarship Fund, and Maryland Production Alliance.

President and CEO, John Berndt comments, “We really owe Baltimore a lot and we’re committed to the city’s arts, restaurants, businesses, and people. For the past 15 years Baltimore has provided us with cheap rent, good projects, and a great community.”
