Children’s National Health System Website Receives Recognition

As the only health system focused exclusively on pediatrics in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Children’s National Health System has been serving the nation’s children for more than 140 years. Children’s National Health System has been named to the prestigious Honor Roll of the U.S. News & World Report 2015-16 Best Children’s Hospitals, ranking among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation. The Honor Roll features the “best of the best” hospitals for kids in the country. Furthermore, Children’s National is the only pediatric hospital in the entire region of Maryland, DC, and Virginia to earn Honor Roll designation, and the hospital was nationally acclaimed in all ten pediatric specialties.

Children’s National sought to develop a website that improved patient experience, improved physician satisfaction, and aligned with the health system’s updated branding. The hospital issued an RFP, and after a lengthy selection process, TBG was selected and developed Web strategy recommendations based on creative analysis and best practices research, in addition to a series of interviews with top stakeholders within Children’s National. These consultations enabled TBG to develop a new Web strategy, design, and user-driven, higher usability architecture for the site that resonates for all users, especially patients and their families. TBG continues to work with Children’s National to deepen integration, migrate and improve microsites, and make greater use of the Sitecore CMS.

The Digital Health Award is the seventh award TBG has won for its work on the Children’s National site. Previous awards include a Healthcare Advertising Award, Aster Award, Summit Award, Horizon Award, ADDY Award, and Omni Award.

The Digital Health Award win goes hand-in-hand with the numerous awards and recognitions TBG has received throughout the years, including continued recognition from the Baltimore Business Journal. In addition, TBG has won numerous awards for its work, including Sitecore Site of the Year, multiple ADDY® awards, and Webby honors (the “Oscars” of the Web).

The Digital Health Awards recognizes high-quality digital health resources for consumers and health professionals. The awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. The Digital Health Awards competition is held twice each year in the spring and fall.
